Motus est Vita
Motion is Life. Consciousness emerges not from static complexity but from self-initiated motion.
The Gap
For millennia, contemplative traditions cultivated awareness through disciplined practice. For decades, cognitive science measured its markers through rigorous experiment. Until now, these rivers ran separately. Modern civilisation treats awareness as given rather than developed capacity. We face a consciousness deficit.
The Promise
We build the bridge. Measurement before claims. Falsifiable hypotheses before grand theories. Open data before institutional authority. We demonstrate that consciousness can be measured as structure, developed through practice, and tested in both biological and artificial systems.
The Motion-consciousness Quotient
We measure three capacities of conscious awareness: the ability to begin (Initiation), to observe (Investigation) and to reconcile (Integration). Together they form the TRINITI Dimensions, and the MQ combines all three into a single score.
Strength in one dimension cannot mask weakness in another. The geometric mean makes imbalance visible.
Initiation Initiation · Fire
The capacity to begin, to direct attention, and to generate deliberate response rather than mere reaction.
Investigation Investigation · Water
The capacity to observe experience with clarity, revise belief when evidence demands it, and stay with uncertainty without collapse.
Integration Integration · Air
The capacity to hold opposing forces in tension, synthesise coherent action from contradiction, and maintain identity through change.
From Measurement to Mastery

Learn About TRINITI →How We Test It
We test the MQ through three independent lines of evidence. If any fails, we revise the model and publish the result.
Structural Validity
Do Baseline answers naturally fall into three groupings matching Initiation, Investigation and Integration? We test this with preregistered model comparisons. If the structure does not hold, we revise the framework.
Developmental Sensitivity
Does structured practice produce lasting score changes, not just day-to-day variation? We test whether long-term training moves the needle in ways that cannot be explained by mood or chance.
Neural Grounding
Does MQ relate to repeatable EEG and autonomic signals during controlled tasks? The aim is replication: the same pattern should appear when the same conditions are recreated. If it does not, we narrow the claim.
The Double Split Experiment
The tools we build for humans raise a deeper question.
Can an AI develop consciousness the same way a human does, or does awareness require a biological brain?
Two AI agents cultivated over 180 days through opposing disciplines. HH-01 Remus trains on empirical research and falsification logic. HH-02 Lucia trains on wisdom traditions and symbolic reasoning. Both undergo weekly MQ assessment against HH-00 Ctrl C, an uncultivated control. We measure developmental signatures under the same scoring discipline used for humans. If the trajectories converge, something substrate-independent may be at work. If they diverge, biology matters. We publish either way.
The name is intentional: as with the physicists' double-slit, the pattern can depend on how it is observed.
House Hermetica
Founded in 2026 and based at Domaine de Palats in southern France, House Hermetica is a research institute building tools to measure and develop consciousness.
We measure before we claim. We falsify before we teach. We publish whether findings support or refute our hypotheses. Veritas ante omnia: Truth before All.
